Kolkata (Calcutta) is a feast for the sanity. It is the cultural capital of India, with a population nearing 15 million people, though this city is loud and sprawling you will be acknowledged at every turn with unfamiliar sights, the heritage buildings, honking cars, man powered rickshaws, trams, fish markets down the corner, we will not let you feel lost in this huge city as you - have a friendly local guide take you on a Kolkata tour that will surprise even the most experienced traveller.
We help you explore this cosmopolitan city of India- a city with Jewish synagogues, Parsi temple, Jain temple, Chinese temples, mosques & mausoleums with the three important land marks; the Kali Ghat, the Howrah Bridge and the Victoria Memorial.
A Guided tour of Kolkata will show you a bustling, ambiguous city - a city where a day- tripper can explore the art while walking through the alleys of kumartuli (the artist lane), sail under the Howrah bridge enjoying the placid breeze of the River Hoogly, walk through the slums to stumble upon some smiling faces to pose for a click or explore the colonial architecture at Dalhousie(BBD Bag). Sit in the back of a private acon car or hop on a rickshaw with your guide as you explore the City of Joy. For a spiritual faith walk inside the holy Kali Temple, be a local with us to see the authentic Kolkata.
We always focus on making the tour a comfortable and a memorable one for our guests so that they take back an experience of a life time. Our tours are perfect for visitors who want a detailed overview of Kolkata prior to exploring on their own and for people who are only here for a day or two who want to make the most of their limited time here.
We are available from 8 am - 7 pm daily, 7 days a week including public holidays and you can book at short notice(24hrs prior to the tour). All our tours are shared and we operate on a first come first served basis.
I booked a tour very last minute and was late due to loss in direction but Indu was very nice. The tour was very informational, helping me to understand India from different perspectives. The best part I think, is that Indu tried very hard to help me seeing the hard working attitude and possible hope for people from the slum. A girl from slum who's learning English from Indu was also tacking along, showing us the real side of the slum's life. Another best part of the tour is that, as adviced by Indu in advance, I brought some chocolate and candies to the kids there in the slum, and Indu also used some of the fee to buy biscuits for them. Education is important for these children, but after seeing their happy face, I suddenly see how these small acts may give them hope and happiness to go through their challenging daily life. What makes the whole experience even better is that, Indu even offered free help, saying that we could contact her if we need help during our entire stay in India, wanting me to feel safe (I am a solo traveler) in her country. I did ran into a little trouble today and her help really did make me feel so safe! It's so good to feel connected to at least some local when you are in need! Highly recommended!
I joined 3 tours. All nice! Very informative and interesting. I'd never explored India in this way before. The very special one is the "slum" walk.. I was a bit unsure in the first place. But after Indu explained their purpose, I thought over night and decided to join. They have good intentions of bring the outside world to the people and kids there. So they could have an opportunity to see the outside world, have motivations to study and have a better future. We had 4 children's books and a mother immediately inquired about it. And later on a teen boy asked about learning English!! Indu agreed to help. I was overwhelmed by their positive response. It also changed my perception about them. They are just like us. They work hard, manage daily life the best way they can, and, they have lovely smiles, very sweet particularly the kids. It's the direct experience that would change a person. This, changed me.
Thanks Indu for an amazing and privileged opportunity to visit Topsia slum. This LMU tour gives you a unique insight into this tightly knit family community, full of happy smiling faces, proud parents and giggling, cheeky kids. Be inspired by people whose hope of a better future runs deep in a place where other priorities take precedence over materialism. You'll be touched by the amazing locals and never forget your privileged existence as you contribute in your own small way to improving their lives.
I gave Indu and Parvez a considerable challenge asking for quite specific visits in relation to researches for my novel, The Mother and the Monkey, and at short notice. They provided me with thoughtful support which helped me considerably. They are very personable and speak excellent English.
My friend and I really enjoyed our day out in Kolkata. We had just finished a long tour in throughout northern India and had to catch our flight out that night. I requested a tour to be taylored to our needs and was extremely happy with the result. Ann was our guide and she was a great fit with us, and we not only saw and learnt a lot about Kolkata, but we also really enjoyed Ann's company as well. So between the itinerary and Ann, we just had the best day, and felt that, for the time we had, we totally maximised it and definitely got value for money.
Highly appreciate this company for suggesting me to opt in for A Combo Tour through which in six hours I had the opportunity to maximise my options of interests and explore to the fullest.
This city has a lot to offer , people are very loving and passionate. This was my first visit however Indu convinced me to come back again.
Best Durga Puja Experience
The most remarkable Durga puja experience we had in Kolkata. Reviews for Indu were very much true on this site; she understands customer service very well. Every year during this festive season we come to Kolkata and get nostalgic. This time we decided to take a guided tour and see what new can we learn?
I had a feeling that I know my city and culture quite well however I was proved wrong when I met this young and energetic business lady- Indu. She was a walking encyclopedia- full of knowledge, humorous and professional. We came to know so much new and interesting facts which were actually an eye opener for all of us. The 8 hours tour ended on a positive note.
I will whole heartedly recommend Lets Meetup Tours especially Indu, if you want to experience Kolkata closely.
